The retina is the light sensitive part of the eye responsible for sending information to the brain. The macular is the central part of the retina and is the part of the eye used for central vision.
Uveitis is the term used for all inflammation that occurs within the eye. Scleritis and episcleritis are the terms used to describe inflammation of the outer coats of the eye.
A cataract is the term given to the lens inside the eye, which can become opaque due to age, medication and inflammation. When we are young, the lens is clear and stretchy; as we get older, the lens becomes stiffer and yellow. Removal of a cataract is a common procedure, which drastically improves many patients’ quality of life.
